Remove AI metadata from photos and videos

ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Sora and Firefly hide tags in every file they make, and those tags put “AI info” and “Made with AI” on your posts. Strip them in one drop: Content Credentials, AI flags, prompts and tool names.

  • Runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded
  • Pixel-perfect: no re-encoding, no quality loss
  • Photos and videos, in batches

How does it work?

  1. Step 1

    Drop your files

Photos or videos, one or a whole batch. They are read right here in your browser and never uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    See what it found

Each file lists its AI tags: Content Credentials and who signed them, the IPTC "made with AI" flag, prompts and tool names.

  3. Step 3

    Download clean copies

Every copy is checked again before it is offered, and saved as name-clean, so it never gets mixed up with the original.

What gets removed, and what stays?

Removed

  • C2PA Content Credentials from ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Sora, Firefly and Copilot
  • IPTC "trained algorithmic media" and "edited with AI" flags
  • Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI and InvokeAI prompts in PNGs
  • AI tool names in EXIF, XMP and video tags
  • Location, camera and software details

Kept

  • Every pixel and every video frame, byte for byte
  • The colour profile, so colours look the same
  • Photo orientation, so nothing turns sideways
  • Video length, audio and quality: nothing is re-encoded

Not touched: invisible watermarks woven into the pixels, like Google's SynthID, and what platforms detect on their own. Those are part of the image itself, so no metadata tool removes them.

Which platforms read AI metadata?

The big platforms label AI content from the tags inside the file you upload. A clean copy carries none of them.

Instagram
"AI info" label, from C2PA and IPTC tags
Facebook
"AI info" label, from C2PA and IPTC tags
Threads
"AI info" label, from C2PA and IPTC tags
TikTok
"AI-generated" label, from Content Credentials
LinkedIn
Content Credentials badge on images
YouTube
Reads Content Credentials on uploads

Frequently asked questions

Will this remove the "AI info" label on Instagram?
Instagram, Facebook and Threads add "AI info" when the file you upload carries C2PA Content Credentials or IPTC AI tags. The clean copy has neither. Platforms can also run their own detection on the pixels, so no metadata tool can promise a label never appears.
Does it work on ChatGPT and Nano Banana images?
Yes. ChatGPT, Nano Banana (Gemini), Sora, Adobe Firefly and Microsoft Copilot all sign what they make with C2PA Content Credentials, and the remover takes those out. It also finds Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, Flux, Kling and other tools by the names and prompts they leave behind.
Does removing AI metadata lower the quality?
No. Nothing is re-encoded: photos keep every pixel and videos keep every frame byte in place. Only the metadata around them goes, while the colour profile and photo orientation are kept.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Even a 1 GB video is cleaned in under a second, because only its metadata is rewritten.
How do I remove C2PA Content Credentials?
Drop the file here and download the clean copy. C2PA manifests live in their own block of the file (JPEG APP11, the PNG caBX chunk, an MP4 uuid box), so they can be taken out without touching the image or video.
Which files can I clean?
Photos in JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC, and videos in MP4 and MOV. Drop several at once and download each clean copy, or all of them together.
Does it remove invisible watermarks like SynthID?
No. Invisible watermarks such as Google SynthID are woven into the pixels themselves, not the metadata. Removing them would mean changing the image, which this tool never does.
Do I still need to disclose AI content?
Yes, where it applies. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok ask you to label realistic AI content, and laws such as the EU AI Act require disclosure of deepfakes. Removing metadata does not change those duties.
Is the AI Metadata Remover free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no limit on files. It is a free tool from MotionVid, the AI video editor.
